Tanya Fender

Tanya M. Roberts grew up in Sebring, Florida. Tanya attended Sebring High School. Tanya received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Florida, with a minor in Business. Tanya received her Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida.

During law school, Tanya worked with indigent clients in the areas of family law, guardianship, wills, bankruptcy, credit disputes, and other miscellaneous areas of law. Tanya also worked for a local family law firm. While at Florida Coastal School of Law, Tanya met her husband, David Fender, Jr., a life long resident of Fort Pierce, Florida.

After completing law school and passing the rigourous Florida Bar, Tanya accepted a position with Guardian Ad Litem in Jacksonville, Florida doing dependency work. While with the Guardian Ad Litem, Tanya represented neglected and abused children.

Tanya and David soon decided to move back to Fort Pierce, Florida, and Tanya accepted a position with the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Office of the Public Defender. While at the Public Defender’s Office, Tanya represented indigent clients who had been accused of crimes, thereby continuing her work for the indigent. During her tenure with the Public Defender, Tanya worked in the areas of juvenile law, misdemeanor law, felony law, and appellate law, representing thousands of accused clients.  Tanya has handled cases ranging from minor misdemeanors and DUIs to Armed Robbery, Capital Sexual Battery and Murder.

Tanya is a member of the Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida. Tanya is also a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, is on the Board of Directors for the Saint Lucie County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Board of Directors for Royal Palms, and is a an Adjunct Faculty member at Indian River State College in the area of Law.
